How-To: Recipe | Toasted Marshmallow Shake

OMG guys, are you ready for this deliciousness? I’m not sure you can handle it. While working on a paper tonight I had a craving for a sweet treat I used to make at the restaurant I worked at in high school that has since closed down. I decided to give myself a break and go out and splurge on a $9.70 purchase of whipped cream, vanilla Häagen-Dazs, and some marshmallows. The magic that it made in my mouth was sooo worth it, and it boosted my energy to help me get my paper done. You DEFINITELY want to try this out.

Alright, so I’m not sure what the rules are of sharing recipes from a closed restaurant but due to my lack of ingredients and unwillingness to spend more than 10 at the store this recipe is an altered version, which is hopefully okay. Plus there are more recipes for this kind of shake on the internet though I haven’t exactly read them so I’m not sure how they compete. This one is good though. And its all in the ice cream.

The requirements for this recipe are a little strange. Obviously you’re going to need a blender/magic bullet/some way to mix all the ingredients to your liking. On top of that, you’re  going to need a kitchen torch (lol as if you have that just lying around) or what I used is just a regular lighter. I’m not sure if that’s okay from a health standpoint, but it’s all I had so I went with it. If you have a gas stovetop, you could totally use that instead. Why do you need a flame source you ask? BECAUSE WE ARE GOING TO LIGHT THINGS ON FIREEEEE!!! 😀
In a controlled setting, of course. Outside, if you live in an on campus apartment. You don’t need a fine from Fire Safety.

(update: ironically, after I wrote this the day after making it, my roommate ended up burning popcorn and we actually did get a visit from fire safety. not my fault though!!)

lactaid milk + lactose-y ice cream? maybe they’ll cancel each other out

1. The best part of this recipe is the fact that you get to light something on fire and then use in the recipe still. That’s right- its GOOD to burn it, this time. Place 3 of your 4 marshmallows on a skewer/metal object kind of deal (I used a butter knife). Take it outside, and ignite. Let the outsides crisp up, and the fire should burn out on its own. It’ll smell just like heaven.

2. Place inside the blender with the milk, Ice cream, and sugar. Blend!!

3. Pour into cup, and garnish with massive amounts of whipped cream. This is supposed to be the sugariest, sweetest shake you’ve ever had in your life. go wild.

4. Whip out that flame thrower torch again and burn the last marshmallow a lil’ bit to accentuate the flavor infused in the shake, to make it look super fancy, and so you get one last bite at the end of gooey deliciousness.

I realized there’s never proof in my posts that I am actually making these myself or eating them. So, like at the end of every FoodNetwork show, here is the chef tasting the goods
