How-To: Crafting | Wake Up Your Walls Part 2

Hey Readers! This is going to be a part 2 of a post series I started a few days back. Last time I showed you guys some easy tips on how I chose to decorate my dorm walls relatively inexpensively. I’m going to show you a few more ideas based off my roommate’s walls! She ordered a few wall hangings only a few weeks ago, so they’re not up on the wall yet. But when they are, they are going to look great! (Read more to see the pics)

My roommate’s favorite color, as you’ll be able to guess, is purple! She carried that theme through her bedding, sheets, blankets, and wall decorations. She ordered a lot of new cool things for her wall this year to make it more cozy and home-y. Here’s what she ordered:

Photo Collage frames! These are very cool because you can organize photos that would ordinarily just be taped to your wall. If you have cement block walls, you’ll have to buy command hooks to hang these, but I believe my roommate is going to hang these on the one normal wall, so it will be easier. These can make pictures look a lot nicer than just being randomly dispersed, and since she has two sets she can organize them into themed framings. So cute!

Another cool thing she bought was these wall decals. They are almost like inspirational posters, but come in different sizes and are very pretty. You can stick them to mostly any surface, and are a cool idea if you are unable to paint or wallpaper your room. Also, they are easily peeled off and reapplied to other areas if you decide to move your furniture in different way.

In addition she also purchased these cool decal frames. They also come in a variety of sizes, but fit to decorate the space around your photos! Much cooler than simply sticking them up with tape, and help to add personality to your room! Each one has several layers to it, so if you like the design of one but your picture seems too large, just peel out the inner layer and your 4×6 frame instantly becomes a 5×7. How cool is that?

One thing you all may already have in your dorm rooms is a white board. They are super handy when you need to write down a quick note to yourself or organize your schedule. 1010132354aThey’ve come out with some pretty cool ones over the years, like calendar style ones, and very colorful ones. The one my roommate got is completely purple (of course!) and small enough for her to even keep propped by her desk if she chooses, for easy handling. Of course, these always come with ways to hang them, so do what suits you best! Did you know that not all white boards are magnetic? If you’re looking to hang papers and notes from it, make sure you read the package before purchasing! This whiteboard can be found for as little as 5 dollars in some stores.

That’s it readers! Maybe when she has a little more free time, she’ll hang it all up and I can post an updated photo of her side of the room, finished. Until then, let me know in the comments: how do you like living with a roommate? šŸ™‚
